Four 1-day professional development workshops for practitioners in Erosion and Sediment Control

Download the Brochure:

Workshop 1: Fundamentals of Erosion and Sediment Control
Workshop 2: “Blue Book” (Soils and Construction) Overview
Workshop 3: Hydrology and Stormwater for Soil and Water Management Plan Designers
Workshop 4: Preparing Plans for Soil and Water Management

These workshops are based on Volume 1 of Managing Urban Stormwater: Soils and Construction (Landcom, 2004) (the “Blue Book”). They have been prepared by the team responsible for developing Volume 1 of that text and are offered separately or together as a comprehensive program.

Together, the workshops also prepare candidates for the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) examination for Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC). The examination is not offered as part of this program, but may be taken separately on completion of the four modules. The IECA has endorsed the workshops.

FloCal 2.11 Software for Storm Water Design Process

FloCal is a powerful, Windows-based tool, designed in Australia with a user-friendly interface to aid in the stormwater design process. The program costs only $99 (GST incl.). It has been developed for erosion control works on small catchments and, in particular, for the design of minor excavated channels using products listed in the “Blue Book” (Landcom, 2004) and following its design principles. FloCal is not intended for use in natural or major excavated channels.

Blue Book

This document is the fourth edition of Managing Urban Stormwater: Soils and Construction published in 2004 and is part of a series of documents produced by the NSW Government on environmental protection. It provides updated guidance for developers, consultants, consent authorities and practitioners for the design, construction and implementation of measures to improve stormwater management during the construction phase of land development. While originally prepared for urban works, its application will be extended shortly through a second volume to include, quarries and other mining sites, waste disposal sites, major road and highway construction, access tracks in bushland and installation of services.

  Sediment Basin Detailed Design (109kb)

This Excel spreadsheet should be used to size sediment retention basins as required by Section 6.3.3 of the "Blue Book". It should be used on high erosion hazard lands as identified by figure 4.6 of the "Blue Book" or where the designer chooses to run the RUSLE in calculations.

NSW ESCP/SWMP Check Sheet PDF (220kb)

This check list is for NSW users and has been developed by SEEC Morse McVey for the preparation/review of Erosion & Sediment Control Plans and Soil & Water Management Plans. It is based on information contained in Chapters 2 and 9 of the "Blue Book". The list is not complete and does not cover all eventualities; it is intended to help prevent key information being omitted.

QLD ESCP Check Sheet PDF (220kb)

This check list has been developed for QLD users by SEEC Morse McVey for the preparation/review of Minor and Major Erosion & Sediment Control Plans according to the requirements of the Maroon Manual. The list is not complete and does not cover all eventualities; it is intended to help prevent key information being omitted.
